Awarding Criteria

Prizes will be awarded by a jury panel made up of expert 3D designers, cultural custodians, marketing professionals, and technical partners are able to evaluate entries in multiple perspectives. The award jury is composed of voluntary experts who take pride in their work ethics as well as their professions.


Originality: We want to see your creative spark shine! Show us your unique and innovative ideas that make your entry stand out.

Storytelling and Narrative Detail: Your design should tell a captivating story about Lagos. Pay attention to the little details in your narrative that bring your concept to life.

Technical Execution: We're looking for top-notch quality and skill in how you bring your design to life. Make sure your technical execution is on point.

Eligibility

Our contest is open to individuals who are 18 years or older. By entering the contest, you're confirming that you're eligible to take part and can receive any prizes you might win. Just a quick heads-up: each person can submit only one entry, and yes, it's completely free to join. So, let's get those creative juices flowing!

Best Overall Submission: Our top prize recognizes the most outstanding entry, and it comes with a cash reward of $3k.

Best Technical Execution: For those who excel in technical skills and execution, we have a special prize supported by Unreal Engine. Winning entries in this category will be created using Unreal Engine, and the prize is set at $2k.

People's Choice Award: Your peers and the general public will have a say too! The People's Choice winner will receive recognition and a fantastic prizes.

The Rules of the Contest


Introduction

By participating in the Lagos Meet: Lagos, A Canvas of Creativity Campaign (the "Contest"), you are agreeing to these contest rules (the "Rules"). The Contest is being organized by Lagos Meet in collaboration with Unreal Engine, Alpha&Jam, and The Lagos State Council for Arts & Culture.


Eligibility to Enter

1.1 The Contest is open to individual artists over 18 years of age. Employees and associates of Lagos Meet, Unreal Engine, Alpha&Jam, and the Lagos State Government Council for Arts and Culture are excluded from participating.

1.2 By entering the Contest, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and that you are eligible to receive any prizes that may be awarded to you.

1.3 There is a limit of one entry per person, and entry into the Contest is completely free.


Ownership of Artwork

2.1 All submitted artwork must be the original creation of the entrants. You assert that:

- You did not hire someone to design your project.

- You properly quoted, cited, and attributed any text or images used in your submission.

2.2 Each team member must affirm the originality of their work by signing a statement to this effect.

2.3 Entrants grant permission for their submitted artwork to be displayed on Lagos Meet's website and other social media outlets. Entrants also confirm that they do not have a patent pending or any other reason to decline.

2.4 Lagos Meet does not claim any rights of ownership in your competition entry.

2.5 The participant agrees that Lagos Meet (and their agents: Unreal Engine, Alpha&Jam and The Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture) may use, display, publish, store, edit, re-format the entry (whether or not it wins the competition) for any promotional purpose (You confirm that your entry is original that you own and have the right to license to Lagos Meet the copyright and other intellectual property rights in the entry for the purposes referred to in these terms and conditions.

2.6 The organizers will take reasonable measures to protect the intellectual property rights of participants. If any unauthorized use or infringement of a participant's work is identified, the organizers will work to rectify the situation promptly.


Judging Criteria

3.1 Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

- Originality

- Storytelling and Narrative Detail

- Technical Execution

3.2 The spirit of the Lagos Meet: Lagos, A Canvas of Creativity Campaign is to celebrate the creative spirit of Lagos and the ground-breaking 3D billboard, and to encourage talented creators to create outstanding work.

3.3 The jury panel is composed of 3d experts, multidisciplinary designers and storytellers. Our jury is made up of diverse practitioners from within our community and across our network of partnerships; who can truly validate and evaluate design using their wisdom, experience, specialization and technical knowledge.


Evaluation Rubrics

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria, each with a maximum score of 10 points:

4.1 Originality (Max 10 Points): Judges will assess the uniqueness and innovativeness of your entry. Higher scores will be awarded for exceptionally original ideas.

4.2 Storytelling and Narrative Detail (Max 10 Points): Your design's ability to convey a compelling story about Lagos, along with attention to detail in the narrative, will be evaluated.

4.3 Technical Execution (Max 10 Points): Judges will consider the overall quality and skill in the technical execution of your design. Higher scores will be given for outstanding technical proficiency.

Please note that these criteria are designed to guide our judging panel and ensure a fair evaluation process. Understanding these criteria will help you tailor your submission to meet the contest's expectations.



Challenge Rules

5.1 Deadline: The deadline for submitting entries to the Contest is Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 23:59 WAT.

5.2 Winners Announcement: All winners will be announced during the Lagos Meet Conference for October 27th and 28th, 2023.

5.3 Work in Progress: We encourage the documentation and sharing of your work-in-progress. Additional references and materials can be posted along with your final submission.

Claiming the prize

6.1 Lagos Meet will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available within 3 days of the announcement date, Lagos Meet reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received. Lagos Meet also reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant in case the winner does not provide the necessary information within 5 days after initial contact.

6.2 All participants agree to provide the following information in case of winning:

(a) all information for an interview to be posted on Lagos Meet's blog within 7 days after notice of winning.


Additional Rules and Perks

7.1 Winners will have the opportunity to be featured in prominent media outlets and may be offered interviews for additional exposure.

7.2 Lagos meet may request additional contact information for the purpose of prize delivery.

7.3 Lagos meet reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage if is deemed necessary due to circumstances beyond its control.

7.4 Winner announcements from Lagos meet are deemed final. The judging panel decisions will be based solely on their overall evaluation, without any influence from popular votes or other factors.

7.5 By submitting an entry, participants acknowledge and certify that they have read and agreed to all the rules and requirements governing this event. Additionally, by submitting their videos, participants grant Lagos meet permission to utilize their creative work in any future marketing events, advertising campaigns, or promotions organized by Lagos meet.

7.6 Lagos meet would like to emphasize that it does not benefit financially from this event. The competition is conducted in good faith, with the aim of fostering a healthy community based on providing useful support.



Data Protection and Publicity

You agree that any personal information that you provide when entering the competition will be used by Lagos Meet or their agents for the purposes of administering the competition and for the other purposes as specified in our Privacy Policy.
